Frequently
Asked Questions
Who's leading this project?
A committed group of town residents and employees banded together
in March 2003 to initiate the Boundless Playground project. This
grassroots committee continues to lead the effort, joined by an
ever-growing list of volunteers who are working in many areas to
ensure its success.
How
big will the playground be, and where will the playground be located?
The playground will be approximately 20,000 square feet in size,
and will be located in Nevers Park next to the Community Center
How
much will it cost?
$420,000 is budgeted, which is a combination of cash and in-kind
donations.
Will
tax dollars be used to pay for the playground?
No. There is no plan to use tax dollars. Although some initial funds
have been generated through a special Recreation Department account
that is funded by fees-for-service income, the majority of the funding
will be raised by the Community groups, such as civic, school, church
and social/recreational groups. Families, individuals and businesses
are all helping - volunteering and contributing money as well as
in-kind goods and services.
Some money is being contributed
by the South Windsor Recreation Department. These funds were generated
from fees-for-service programs the department offers or from special
fundraising events dedicated to the playground project - not from
tax dollars.
This playground will be built by the community for the
community!
